Sources

Although I hold a number of photographs and works, the story would be incomplete without the many contributions from other sources, both family members and others who contacted me after seeing the website. All photographs reproduced on this website carry an acknowledgement of the source but I have also listed the main contributors below.

I'm very pleased to see that the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam has instituted a very forward looking initiative by making high resolution files of its works of art available for download by the general public, free of copyright. As a result, I've been able to add a number of photographs to certain sections of the website that needed additional material. Hopefully other institutions will follow the Rijksmuseum's lead and make work more freely available.

A step in the right direction is the current position of The British Museum which permits the non-commercial use of its images. As a result, I have been free to add an etching, the portrait of Elisabeth Bas after Rembrandt, that I think represents his best work.
