Franciscus Stracké

The Dutch Sculptor, Franciscus Leonardus Stracké (1849-1919) was the son of Johan Stracké and elder brother of Leo Stracké. His grandfather was the German painter and sculptor Ignatius Johannes Stracké. Gottfried Stracké and Frans Stracké, both sculptors, were uncles.
The sculptor Hendrik Albert van den Eijnde worked as Stracké’s assistant from 1891. Franciscus was awarded the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice by Pope Leo XIII (1810-1903).
Franciscus’s best-known work is a sculpture of Hugo de Groot (shown above), from 1886, which may be seen in Delft.
