Leo Stracké

Leo Paulus Johannes Stracké, son of Johan Stracké, was born in Rotterdam, Holland in 1851. Epiphania Josephine Leontine Ursula Stracké, who married Petrus Arendzen, was Leo’s sister. He died in The Hague in 1923.

There are a few of Leo Stracké’s sculptures dotted around the houses of various Arendzen descendants. When Leo visited the Arendzens at Quex Road, he was delighted to find that the clay in the garden was perfect for his work and he fashioned a number of pieces, from the material he dug up.

The Rijksmuseum lists three works by Leo and the Rotterdam Museum lists six. If you click the links to these museums, under 'Useful Links,' you can search their collections.
