There’s a surprising dearth of drawings available to publish, considering the many hundreds, probably thousands, that would have been made by both the Strackés and the Arendzens over the course of decades. If anyone has any drawings that I could use on the website, please get in touch.
Pencil Drawing by Petrus Arendzen.
My thanks to Jean Foster from Selkirk who sent me a photograph of this fine pencil drawing by Petrus Arendzen. It came into her possession on the death of her father, who rescued an album of writing, music, paintings and drawings from various Arendzen family members and friends. The album was in a pile of rubbish that was being thrown out from14 Quex Road.
Jean says that the album is inscribed 'To the illustrious family of Arendzen - with Miss Agnes French's Executor's best regards - December 1933.' At the moment, we know nothing about Agnes French nor how she came to own the album.
I am pleased that the album was rescued and it's good to know that it has found a good home. Jean has also sent another couple of items which I will add to the website shortly.
